day to night
Bonjour. Check it out, friends. Work day to date night.
Board room ready with a blazer, no nonsense bun and scarf for when your office is freezing even though its 100 degrees outside.
Blazer off. Scarf turned belt. Hair down. DONE. You are ready to impress the lucky man or lady ready to sweep you off your feet.
Another reason I like this look? I get to wear orange, the color of this summer I can't get enough of.
Up next week: Vacation times! My own mid-Missouri vacation and recap of my gorgeous friends who went on vacation to visit me. You'll see.

day and night, holiday remix
Memorial Day. That glorious day that proves summer is here. Or, in my world, the day every desperately needs off before they go crazy in the office and send one too many too-snarky emails. It's time to bring out your whites, your barbecues, your booze, and your very stylish friends.
And here is my very stylish friend!
Everyone, meet Jedd. He's on twitter, dontcha know. And he works for Politico and he's as fashionable as he is funny, and you don't meet too many of those.
Here he is traveling for the weekend in perfect casual cool:
And, in Jedd's own words: Rae Rae, we were thinking of you in Youngstown, Pa. You've started a movement! With a change of belt and shoe, and added shirt, we went from traveling casual chic to bright and white Memorial Day ready.
I'm loving those whites. And the sexiness underneath. I mean, what? Ahem.
Memorial Day awesomeness, guys. How did you stay summer chic from day to night? And from traveling to partying?
(A shout out also goes to my friend Mike, who suggested a dip into menswear. There will be more to come.)

top knot times
I've long admired the huge, giant, did I mention large buns I've seen on the heads of many a girl on many a runway and in only the chicest real-life settings. That girl must have thick, beautiful, long hair, I'd think. Turns out, there are some tricks to make even the finest of strands poof out with the best of them in top knot glory.
I learned from @bergdorfs, who did a great tutorial on twitter the other day. You can see the recap on the Bergdorfs blog.
Here's the end result. I'm in love with this hairstyle. It's easy, classic, huge and pretty.
Here's the secret:

Here's the secret:
A sponge! Get a round sponge with a hole in the middle. Or, if you are like me, get a round sponge and cut a hole in the middle. Pull your pony tail through and wrap the hair around the sponge. Pin into place. You are done. Welcome to the world of big hair.
